A case of mistaken identity

 Although it can be ground into flower and used like a cereal, this pseudocereal is not part of the wheat family and is actually not a grain at all. The name 'buckwheat' or 'beech wheat' comes from its triangular seeds, which resemble the much larger seeds of the beech nut and the fact that it can be used like wheat.
